North Norfolk Planning Watch exists to keep the local planning process honest, fair and transparent, in a way that has not always been the case in recent years, so that our area will not lose everything is historic and distinctive about it.
At the moment, our main focus is fighting to prevent the demolition of the former Blakeney Rectory, a place that is special to generations of local people. Designed by the Holt firm of architects Holtom & Page in 1924, it is a wonderfully intact example of a late Arts & Crafts parsonage, featuring attractive original features such as an impressive main staircase, period fire surrounds and joinery.
Allthough the former Rectory is so obviously a part of Blakeney’s living history, and despite the written objections of more than 50 people, mostly local, in January 2017, North Norfolk District Council granted permission for the Rectory to be demolished. North Norfolk Planning Watch sought judicial review for this decision. Our case will be heard in late November.
